Research and Development
Research and Development Department (R&D) is established with a vision to ensure the quality in the all areas of functioning in GET. During the last decade of service GET has achieved many milestones in quantitative terms e.g. establishment of more then 354 schools, enrollment of 44,000 students, hundreds of teachers trained through training workshops.
This is the high time when we feel the need to find the qualitative impact of all the activities of GET. Though we find some signs of qualitative impact like excellent results in schools and colleges of GET yet there is a need to find out this impact in a more scientific manner. Moreover there is a need of quality assurance means and tools like model lesson plans, model papers, model tests etc. to be practiced at GET. |

R&D is established to serve both the purposes i.e. develop quality assurance tools and assess the impact in qualitative terms
Objectives
The objectives of Research and Development Department are to:
- Support the teachers of GET in launching central academic system through lesson plans and model papers.
- Support different departments of GET by developing quality assurance tools
- Conduct researches in order to find the impact of the activities of different departments of GET
- Develop training materials for different stake holders
Services
R & D has provided the following services to different departments of GET since its establishment:
Planning of syllabus
R & D divides the content of text books on monthly basis to facilitate the teachers of GET and to ensure that there is uniform teaching in all the schools of GET.
Model/Annual Papers
R & D provides GET schools with model papers at the start of each academic session to ensure quality in the process of assessment. Then at the end of each session R & D provides GET schools with annual papers.
Tameer-e-Seerat Series
Character building of the student is one of the main objectives of GET. To facilitate the teachers with the process of character building R & D has developed a series of character building booklets with the title of “Tameer-e-Seerat” series. The series has six booklets covering the primary stage of education. The booklets for elementary stages are in progress.
GET primer series
As most of the GET schools are operating in Rural areas there are special needs of students at the staring levels like Kids Class and Nursery etc. R & D has developed a series of GET primers that takes care the needs of these young students in the subjects of English, Urdu and Mathematics.
Future plans
Research Projects
R & D has planned to conduct researches to know the impact of the services provided by GET. The special focus will be on knowing the quality of teaching learning process, involvement of local community in the activities of GET and character building of students of GET schools.
Writing Book Series
A new series of handwriting books will be introduced in session 2007-2008 in GET schools by R & D. The series will cover all three areas; Urdu, English and Counting from KC to class two.
Model Lesson Plans
A unique quality of GET schools is the uniformity of activities and quality in all the activities. To ensure even the higher level of uniformity R & D has planned to introduced Model Lesson Plans in the next academic year. The plan is to facilitate the teachers with five model Lesson Plans from each text book of all the classes.
Classroom Assessment Tools
R & D has also planned to facilitate the monitoring team of GET schools with the Classroom Assessment Tools. These tools are not only meant to measuring the performance of the students but they also focus on the assessment of teachers performance in the classroom.
Handouts for study circles
GET has a very comprehensive Teachers Training Programme to equip its teachers with modern techniques of teaching. To fulfill the training needs of GET teachers Training Workshops are conducted on the regular basis. To add to the services of Teachers Training R & D will introduce Handouts on twenty topics. The teachers will have study circles and get benefit from these handouts in these study circles. |
